Russian Duma had accepted a law, instituting criminal liability for “likes” and reposts in the Internet Russian parlament, The State Duma, has adopted a law, according to which a person, accused of public appeals for extremism via Internet should be imprisoned. The same is true for financing extremist activity. Now one can be jailed for five years for online extremism, for financial support of extremist activity a court could sentence inductee for six years in prison, as it is reported by ITAR-TASS. An ordinary repost or “like” of provocative posts in the Internet can become a sufficient reason for criminal proceeding to be opened. In other words, for “likes” or reposts of any information, which someone would consider as dangerous, oppositional, kindling, provocative etc., a person can really be imprisoned now for five years! Nowadays Internet is being watched not only by special machines, able to look through all user posts in social networks, but also by groups of modern hong webbings, “nashists” (members of russian youth movement “Nashi”, instituted with the support of government of Russia and personally Vladimir Putin, positioning themselves as antifascists), Kremlin bots, ready to get their premium for denunciation of too much freely thinking citizen, so the amount of deletions would rise, sites and accounts of “suspicious” users would be blocked, special measures, aimed to find evidence of extremism, would be applied to those users.
