Ruth Anne (Kelly) Wolfe, 88, of Falls City, NE, formerly of Atchison, KS. died Thursday, Sept. 26th at the Falls City Health Care Center, Falls City, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 5th, 2013 at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Gabriel Landis, OSB as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until time of services at Sacred Heart Church. The Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left on line at beckerdyer. Ruth Anne was born on November 7th, 1924 in Effingham, Kansas the daughter of Matt and Lucy (Sullivan) Kelly. She attended grade school in Effingham and graduated from high school from St. Theresa’s Academy in Kansas City. She began working for the Atchison Daily Globe. She met insurance agent Don Wolfe, and they were married on the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago on Nov. 24, 1949. Mr. Wolfe preceded her in death on May 28, 1998. After her children started school, she worked as a legal assistant for Wagoner and Foley Law Firm in Atchison. Early in the 1970’s, she became an administrative assistant for General Collin Powell at the United States Army Staff and Command College at Fort Leavenworth, KS. The highlight of her career was being sent to Germany to record minutes from the War Room meetings as the Gulf War was being planned. After retiring at the age of 70, she returned to college taking math, religion and literature courses. She loved playing bridge, playing the piano and following politics. In retirement she spent several mornings a week at the grade school helping students with their reading skills. She volunteered weekly at the Atchison Library and giving tours at the Amelia Earhart museum. Her true passion was her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her two sons: David (Martha) Wolfe, Falls City, NE, and Thomas Wolfe, Leavenworth, KS. and her daughter: Jane (Bob) Hagan, Wichita, KS. , Son-in-law, Wes Blair, Atchison, KS. six grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don and her daughter, Julie Blair, and brother, Eugene Kelly.
