Rutledge Tennessee. The only other town in the world that I call - TopicsExpress

Rutledge Tennessee. The only other town in the world that I call home. As most of you know, my daddy was born and raised there in East Tennessee and all of his side of the family still live there (well, most of them anyway). Its just a small one-redlight town, filled with farmers and good Ole country folk...and the tomato capital. My brother and I would spend a week or so in the summer with my grandparents, mammie and pop. I can literally still feel their grass beneath my feet on hot summer days. One sunday, they took us to a baptism in a creek. This song takes me to that creek in Poor Valley every time I hear it. Standing on the bank holding hands with my mammie in her long dress, and standing along side my Pop with his perfectly placed dress hat on, and quite possibly a chew of Levi Garrett in his jaw. Mercy how I miss those low key country days with those two awesome souls. Im blessed that although they are gone, my cousin still owns their home and Im able to rest my head in their bedroom on visits. God bless Rutledge, Tennessee. God blessed my Mammie and Pop. God bless country folks and country places. And thank you God, for memories of creekside baptisms with amazing people! ♡
