Ryan had an awesome vent clinic appointment yesterday. He saw his nurse coordinator, Respitory therapist, nutritionist and pulmonologist. They were all very impressed with his growth and new milestones he has reached developmentally. Ryan also was able to visit some of his bonus Mommas at UAB and on the pulmonary floor at Childrens. These ladies and the doctor in the back are responsible for saving my sons life on multiple occasions. Ryan has earned himself some big changes since he is doing so well. 1. We are on all bolus feeds finally. That means no night drip of formula. 2. We are going to try and wean off of another med, a diuretic. 3. If all those go well around Christmas Joe and I can start doing small trials off the vent for a few min at a time. We have a goal to work up to one hour a day before spring. Once spring hits we are going to aggressively increase that time to a goal of being off the vent while awake. Of course this all depends on Ryan and how he handles these changes. We will always give him what he needs. It also makes it even more important to keep Ryan as healthy as possible during this cold and flu season. We appreciate all of your prayer for continued health and progress.
