Ryder: My Mom is the best!!! An American tourist side swiped her car this summer on Vancouver Island. He took full responsibility for the accident (in front of his wife, and another couple) and they exchanged contact info. The two of them decided they didnt need to involve the police, which ended up being a big mistake, as my mom recently found out buddy claimed no fault with his insurance, leaving her on the hook to fix her own car. She still had his contact info though. So she wrote him this... Re: My Disappointment Dear Sir, How very disappointing to hear word from my insurance company that your report of events concerning 22 August 2014 has evolved away from a clear and honest admission of fault at the site of the accident to a claim of ‘no responsibility’. More than the damage to my car, the stress of that afternoon to me and my grandchildren or now the repair costs - what is most disheartening to me is that a man of your age and good stature would fail to take accountability for an honest mistake. When the accident happened, I should have insisted that we execute a less courteous (and far more American) option of waiting for a police officer to join us at the accident site - and to have you sign an affidavit outlining what really happened – in advance of your less than honourable tendencies taking over. It would seem from your actions that you are the kind of man that, in the absence of your own moral guidance, needs some form of external authority at your elbow to take the high road. Aside from the accident, I sincerely hope that your trip to Canada was a good experience. Perhaps more frequent visits to the clean air of Vancouver Island will help to enhance your eyesight, reflexes, memory and character. Sincerely, Heather ............. Ha! GO MOM!!!! - Ryder
