Rye travelled too Ringmer not at full strength but confident on getting a decent result only too be told on arrival the Ryes fixtures secretary had dropped a clanger miss informing the players and that they were actually playing away too Eastbourne Nuthouse!!! 17.5 miles later Rye arrived at the correct venue and the draw was made, a tight looking too be honest so a close night was expected. Lee Freeman (23.32) returned too the side recovering from cricketers lumbar inflammation and quickly settled winning the first from Wayne Self (22.54). The match was close with both players winning 2 legs but Freeman who was more consistent finding 9 tons to Selfs 4 won the deciding leg. 1-0 Rye. Dave Goddard (19.05) fell behind against Nigel Crowhurst (20.04) with Crowhurst displaying a clinical double display. Goddard managed too win one leg in 30 darts firing nine 40s and the one hundrered, A 3-1 against rye was the result. Rye 1 Nuthouse 1 Yet another 3-2 game involving Julian Apps (21.23) was on the menu but this week it was a 3 next too his name and a 2 for Josh Long (17.97). Apps also checked out 118 the highest of the night for Rye but importantly a win. Rye 2 Nuthouse 1 A school boy error from Shane Ridgers (21.97) didnt stop him winning 3-0 against Bob Albiston (16.79). Ridgers looked at his average of 29 when a finish was too be hit in the second leg! Another day Albiston would of punished his dip in play after that point lucky enough Ridgers held on for win. Rye 3 Nuthouse 1 Gary Willis (18.18) was not at all happy with his performance against Alfie Strudwick (19.01) losing 3-1. A key game with the draw situation maybe a turning point for the nutters. Rye 3 Nuthouse 2 Rye increased the gap again thanks too Rob Starbrook (20.77) beating Paul Gerrard (19.63) 3-1. No thrills from Starbrook simply a win and lethal on his doubles. Rye 4 Nuthouse 2 One out of the last three was needed and what better way too mark your first game this season would it be too win for your team. Carl Burns (14.62) who come in late too the withdrawal of Sam Cooper had the chance too do so against Dean Smart (23.48).Burnsy who without doubt is a key member of the squad without rarely playing couldnt get going and lost 3-0. Rye 4 Nuthouse 3 John Ripleys (19.85) kept up tradition playing a player in the top 15 of the division this week dave Creasy (21.11) his opponent. Eighteen tons one maximum five legs and lots of missed doubles were shared between them!! Creasy got stuck on d1 in the final leg missing nine darts at it for Rippo having three darts at d18....Rippo missed and was punished with the Nuthouse man hitting the double in two darts. Rye 4 Nuthouse 4 The final game with the evening levelled was also a cracker . Ryes Jason Coar (23.21) battled Matt Jacobs (25.09) in a thrilling match, Coar somehow sneaked the first in 20 darts only for Jacobs too return the favour in leg two. A deserved third leg was won by Rye including three tons only for Nuthouses Jacobs winning the fourth checking out 112. A 20 dart final leg won the game the match for ...........RYE!!
