S.I.V.A (Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments) is a Canadian-created safety management course for educators, mental health professionals, and caregivers responsible for individuals with special needs who engage in unsafe behaviors. S.I.V.A. is a proactive, holistic safety management program that promotes goal-directed, collaborative efforts to maintain safety. Thousands of professionals and caregivers have embraced the S.I.V.A. model as their training program of choice. S.I.V.A. has been described as “a refreshing alternative to crisis focused programs.” S.I.V.A. is accredited by the Canadian Accreditation Council of Human Services and has been recognized by C.A.R.F. (Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) in the “Promising Practices News.” The Two-Day Training will be facilitated by SIVA founders, Michael Taylor and Dr. Don Castaldi. Participants will receive guided instruction and hands-on experience in applying the hallmark concepts and modules of the S.I.V.A. Program. The following are the core modules of the S.I.V.A Safety Management Program: Self-Care; identify and manage compassion fatigue through self-introspection and support systems Proactive Safety Management Evaluations Development of Caregivers / Individual Relationships and W.I.S.E. Plans. Development of Communication Skills that are goal directed and build upon collaborative W.I.S.E. plans Emergency Safety Interventions for those situations that present an imminent risk of harm to self or others Post Interventions Management through environmental safety, debriefing and incident report writing LOCATION: STONEBRIDGE HOTEL 12102 100 ST.
