SA swimmer sinks Phelps record Well done Dylan!!!!!! Cape Town - South African swimmer, Dylan Bosch, broke American swimming legend Michael Phelps 200m butterfly record in a university meeting in America on Saturday night (SA time). According to the Beeld website, the 20-year-old Bosch is studying Human Movement Sciences and Sports Management at the University of Michigan. He is originally from Randburg but has been in America for two years on a bursary. Phelps and another American, Tom Shields, shared the record of 1:39:65 - Phelps achieved it at the American Open in 2010 and Shields at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships in 2013. Bosch improved the record to 1:39.33 in the NCAA meeting at the weekend, which gives him the American as well as the university record. Bosch said it was always his dream to break the 200m butterfly record. Last year Tom won it when I was still a first-year student. But I wanted to win it. And now the record! Its a wonderful feeling! It makes one humble to beat Michael Phelps record. He is without doubt the greatest swimmer of all time. I watched him at the Olympic Games. I want to learn from him, he has always been my hero, said Bosch. Phelps, 28, is the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 22 medals.
