SAARC (SAARC) – South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation SAARC was established on December 8, 1985 Early members of SAARC :- Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Current members of the SAARC – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan later joined the SAARC in 2007 bringing the total number of members up to eight. The idea for the SAARC was proposed on May 2, 1980 by Ziaur Rahman, then president of Bangladesh. First SAARC summit – 7–8 December 1985 in Bangladesh Dhaka. Seventeen SAARC summit - 10–11 November 2011 in Maldives Addu city. Eighteen SAARC summit- 22-27 November 2014 in Nepal Kathmandu city. SAARC Summits in India:- 1). This summit was held in Nov 16-17 Bangalore, India in 1986 and was representated by the Rajiv Gandhi. It is India’s first and SAARC summit was the second conference. 2). The eighth summit was held in New Delhi, on 2–4 May 1995 and was representated by the P.V.Narsinghrav. 3).
