SACCAWU members plan lunchtime pickets at Walmart/Massmart stores across the country! SACCAWU members employed in the Massmart/Walmart group will be staging lunch hour pickets across the country at various establishments of the Massmart Group between 12h00 and 15h00 on Friday the 19th of December 2014. These pickets will be stage during their lunch time. The purpose of these protests is to to bring to the attention of Massmart customers and the general public various problems expirienced by workers within the Group. The focus of the protests is to highlight the following concerns: Unilateral changes to terms and conditions of employment, coupled with unilateral imposition of new ‘policies’; Undermining of decent work through widespread usage of Labour Brokers; Imposition of Group Benefits coupled with denial of Rights of Workers to belong to Retirement Funds and Medical Aid Schemes of their choice; Consistent refusal to enter into Agency Shop Agreements which is advanced as a Group position during negotiations.
