SACP Eastern Cape wishes ANC a successful conference 24 June 2013 As the South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape province we wish our long standing revolutionary ally; the African National Congress (ANC) a united and successful 7th Provincial Conference to be held in Port Elizabeth on the 26 - 29 June 2013. We are abundantly clear that millions of people in the Eastern Cape Province and other parts of the country will be enthusiastically awaiting the outcomes of the ANC 7th Provincial Conference. We believe that the ANC 7th Provincial Conference should not be viewed and used as an event but as an important platform to defend, deepen and advance the National Democratic Revolution (NDR). We are of the firm view that the ANC should use the 6th Provincial Conference to consolidate organisational gains and place African National Congress on a different plane to lead radical socio-economic transformation for the benefit of the workers and the poor in the province. It in this regard that we sincerely trust that the ANC Provincial Conference will take constructive measures to achieve the radical socio-economic transformation. What should constitute these measures amongst others is the re-industrialization of the province as the basis for creation of decent work and sustainable livelihoods. The conference should come with measures on building of sustainable cooperatives as part of de-tenderization of the provincial government and part of building effective developmental state. The conference should also be able to come up with measures to combat the existing corruption network in our government for this corruption steal resources that are supposed to benefit the workers and the poor. The conference in our view should lift up areas that should constitute key pillars as a guiding framework for our Provincial Developmental Plan. We should also in the provincial context correct weaknesses of the National Development Plan (NDP) as part of our contribution as the province to the discussions on the National Development Plan (NDP). The SACP is of the view that since the highly contested ANC 6th Provincial Conference held in River Park in 2009; The ANC has achieved relative stability in the province. It is in this context that we wish to reiterate our respect for the ANC to deal with its internal affairs but that should not be construed to mean we are a disinterested party on what kind of policies and the discussions on leadership outcomes that the ANC will come up with. It is against this background that we would like to see the leadership outcomes of the ANC 7th Provincial Conference that will build on the work done since the watershed River Park Conference of 2009. We believe that under the current ANC Provincial Leadership we have built firm basis for a stronger alliance going forward. We would like to see the leadership that is committed in upholding the dignity and integrity of our movement; isolate and defeat corrupt elements within our movement who wishes to use this gigantic movement as the vehicle for self-conspicuous consumption. We would like to see the ANC Provincial Leadership post this historic conference that is committed to the alliance and its unity as part of our collective responsibility to defend the majoritarian character of our democracy as the only vehicle capable of deepening the National Democratic Revolution (NDR). A strong and united alliance is a precondition of any possible advance to be made in this country. We wish our ally the ANC a united and successful Provincial conference. We recommit ourselves as South African Communists to work with the ANC and other progressive formations in transforming the lives of the workers and the poor. Issued by SACP Eastern Cape.
