SACP Mpumalanga Provincial Working Committee Media Statement 04 September 2013 The SACP Mpumalanga Extended Provincial Working Committee sat at NUMSA Mbombela Offices to assess its progress on implementing the PEC resolutions and dealing with emanating issues. The meeting noted the following: The PWC is deeply concerned with the posture of NUMSA’s leadership, they have portrayed themselves as the best revolutionaries who understand National Democratic Revolution more than everybody in the alliance, their posture against leadership of the SACP AND the ANC is problematic, especially during this time of elections. Irvin Jim’s public pronouncements accusing comrade Blade Nzimande SACP General Secretary and comrade Gwede Mantashe ANC Secretary General is an attack to both SACP and the ANC, actually is meant to decampaign the liberation movement not to win the oncoming 2014 general elections. We know that it is the Imperialist forces that seek to undermine the power of the alliance in order to do as they wish in exploiting the working class in South Africa, Irvin Jim and his crew have fallen directly into that trap wittingly or unwittingly, acting like Imperialist agents. The culture and traditions of the Congress movement is to engage on any matter no matter how difficult it might be, boycotting an alliance summit, threatening to leave the federation when their point is not taken, attacking the liberation movement on a continuous basis etc, is an act of ill discipline not different to the one advanced by their political hero Julius Malema. The membership of NUMSA is not stupid, they see through their nefarious reactionary imperialist agenda, if they wish to leave the Congress movement for EFF they will leave alone, that revolutionary membership shall remain with the Congress movement. We are going to defend the leadership of the movement against populist Imperialist influenced demagogues. Blade Nzimande and Gwede Mantashe are tried and tested leaders of the left agenda in this country, over years contributed to the building of this gigantic federation of workers. We are therefore calling to NUMSA members to defend their union not to be stolen from the federation and be handed over on a silver platter to an Imperialist agenda, NUMSA is a gigantic Organisation with a rich progressive history, its legacy must be defended by its membership, COSATU, SACP and the ANC must always remain your political home. The PWC welcome the resolutions from the Alliance Summit and the declaration of Alliance Task team to make sure there is an implementation on what had been agreed on. The unity of the alliance in the current epoch is of paramount importance and we will combat, isolate and defeat all elements from within and external to undermine its unity and cohesion. The PWC will be working very hard on ensuring that a provincial alliance summit is sitting very soon, so as we can be able to discuss issues of provincial importance and begin to implement decisions that are taken, particularly to take service delivery in under privileged areas as emphasised by the ANC President. We have confidence in the ANC-led government to continue changing the livelihood of our people. The triple challenges remain rooted, however we must acknowledge the work this revolutionary liberation movement has achieved. We call unity in the province, as branches are busy with BGM’s to nominate. Leaders will come and go but the Alliance will remain intact, let all members be loyal to the organisation not individuals. We are calling upon the people of Mpumalanga province especially the Mandela’s children to go and register for the coming elections as they will be first time voters, so as together we can be able to advance, deepen and defend Nelson Mandela’s legacy and consolidate the National Democratic Revolution in order to deliver a National Democratic Society. We further call on all our structures and members to join the planned Swaziland Border-blockade on the 06th September 2013 led by COSATU, the advanced detachment of the working class in the province.
