On the challenges faced by the organization, he referred to the political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC); and that in Madagascar whereby in the case of the DRC, positive developments have been noted, while in the latter case the final results of the 20 December 2013 Presidential elections will be released on Friday 17 January 2014 amid complaints by one of the competing candidates seemingly on the losing side, despite the elections having been declared peaceful, free, transparent and credible by the SADC Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM), and other international observers. In response, Dr Tax thanked Lesotho for the support and her readiness for taking up the Organ’s Chairmanship in next August. With regard to the DRC and Madagascar, she expressed hope that after recent interventions, things might change for the better.
