SADNESS, SERIOUSNESS AND CAREFULNESS This war in S Sudan will remain as an indelible blight in the countrys history and has already brought an irreparable damage to the reputation of the countrys leaders and the nations image. The fact is that it should not have been instigated and should not be fought because its meaningless in its value and vicious in its nature. As the war rages on over time, its only results are; loss of lives to both civilians and soldiers alike, destruction of public, private and individual properties, destruction of community and social fabric, spoiling the countrys image abroad, destruction of the countrys natural resources and above all, the high hopes of the people of S Sudan have been completely dashed or deferred for more decades, putting the expectations beyond reach to some citizens who may not live to see the day when S Sudan becomes, a democratic, prosperous and peaceful nation that respects human rights and lives and where its social and cultural diversities serve to strengthen it rather than weaken it. The war is so ferocious that it has touched nearly all the families in S Sudan in just the space of four months. Colourful kids in uniforms, fine officers and admirable generals have been lost and lost forever. It has to be said that the nation is experiencing a traumatic event that is extremely lethal and traumatizing. The excruciating fact here is that this war was brought on us by the countrys leaders who seem to be oblivious of its viciousness. The very people who are entrusted with lives and properties of our people have led our people into this long dark tunnel of death and destruction of an unimaginable scale. I always feel sad about the innocent civilians in displaced or UN camps who are facing the dire threat of hunger, diseases, lack of clean water, etc and whose kids face the risk of malnutrition, let alone education for those kids. pregnant mothers who were forced to run into the bush to face the reality of labour pain in the bushes. The elderly people who were forced to flea into the bushes to face the unpleasant reality of fighting for their dear lives. Civilians who always hear bad news of a loss of family member in the battle. Some of those civilians were not getting even a pence from the oil money before this war but are now the first to suffer. The humanity is in misery in S Sudan. Lets ask ourselves this question Why are we in this situation? We may not have an obvious answer as to why we are in this situation. However, we know that we were brought into this situation by our leaders, who have now split into Kiirs and Machars camps. Nonetheless, the irrefutable truth is that this suffering was brought on us by the Commander-in-Chief and the Head of State; Kiir Mayardit. His numerous violations within the SPLM have led us to were we are. Kiir suffers from a grave lack of hazard perception ability, thats the ability to see the potential hazards as a result of your actions or decisions. When this war started on Dec. 15, 2013, there were enough recipes for war. There was corruption at an alarming level, there was arbitrary arrests and killings of journalists and political commentators with impunity, there was repression of freedom of expression and media freedom. There was misrule and cover up of serious scandals that should have been exposed. S Sudan was already a fully-fledged dictatorship. When that infamous incident happened on that fateful night of Dec. 15th. and given that the situation was already combustible, it quickly exploded and raged like wild fire across the country. Here on Facebook, I know that people from all walks of life are subscribers; journalists, historians, teachers, doctors, future leaders including future presidents, etc. Those people are the future of S Sudan and I want them to get a correct understanding of what is happening in S Sudan, how did it come about, its causes and effects, so that in the future, it shall never ever happen again. If we fail to have insight into it, there is a likelihood that we may get into the same trap in the future. Correct history guides the nation into correct destinations.
