SAE International Announces the Keynote Speakers for the 2013 Vehicle Energy Management and Advanced Powertrain Forum WARRENDALE, Pa. (Sept. 19, 2013) – SAE International announces the keynote speakers for the “2013 Vehicle Energy Management and Advanced Powertrain Forum.” The forum will be held October 21-23 at the Doubletree Hotel in Dearborn, Michigan. This new forum comprises three separate, but related symposiums that can be attended either individually or by purchasing a discounted pass that permits attendance at each of the events. The first event, held October 21-22, is the “Energy Management Symposium. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Martin Pischinger, Vice President of Electronics and Controls at FEV. With his current position, Dr. Pischinger is responsible for FEV’s electronics business, including embedded software development. Under his leadership, the Electronics and Controls business unit in the US has grown significantly and is currently capable of providing a portfolio of engineering services including an extension into Infotainment and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This symposium will feature two keynote speakers, Takehito Yokoo and Jeff Minter. Takehtio Yokoo is the Chief Powertrain Engineer with Toyota’s Product Development Office at the Toyota Technical Center, a division of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing, North America, INC. His background includes managing suitability testing of advanced powertrain configurations, coordinating development of improved alternative powertrain system controls, and his responsibilities have recently extended to include strategic planning, focusing on technologies that enable sustainable transportation systems. The Day 2 keynote speaker, Jeff Minter, is the Executive Director of Technical Training for Automotive Research and Design (AR&D). He has been involved with webinar development, training materials and the Society of Automotive Engineers’ Hybrid Diagnostic Certificate of Competence program. Prior to working with AR&D, Jeff was employed as a full-time Automotive Technology Instructor at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, WI, where he was responsible for researching and purchasing automotive diagnostic and repair equipment as well as developing curricula and teaching classes. JuiceBox Energy is an energy storage start-up that provides lithium-ion battery packs for solar and wind installations. Previously, Mr. Maguire ran Texas Instrument’s automotive battery management system group and also worked as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Imara, a venture capital backed electrode and cell manufacturer in Silicon Valley.
