SALC Rules for Proofreading If you wish the SALC Coordinator to proofread your writing the following rules must be observed. 1. The document must be double spaced. 2. If the document is hand written, it must be legible. 3. Proof reading should be done at paragraph level. If you bring in a page or several pages to be proofread it might be rejected. 4. The organization and grammar of the document must be of a good quality. The document should be a final draft, or nearly a final draft. 5. If the SALC Coordinator has to guess what you are trying to convey. Then they will stop proofreading and instruct you to talk to your lecturer. 6. If there are more than a couple grammatical mistakes the SALC Coordinator will discontinue proofreading and ask you to contact your instructor. 7. Proofreading is not meant to be a rewrite; the material that you hand in to the LITU, or other, lectures should be your own material. Therefore the SALC Coordinator can not revise whole sections of your text. 8. Proofreading should be a chance for you to learn. Particularly in regards to word choice and collocations. Thus the SALC Coordinator needs time to explain why they chose to make corrections to your papers. 9. During times of high demand the SALXC Coordinator might refuse to proofread your text. 10. The SALC Coordinator reserves the right to refuse to proofread you works ½ hour before and after the hours of operation of SALC. 11. Do not use a translation service such as Google Translate or Bing Translate. 12. If you wish to have us proofread your writing for another purpose, i.e. an essay assignment for university admission or a scholarship application. We would be happy to help, but make a reservation and bring any details pertinent to the assignment with you so that we can read it to make sure what has been written fulfills the stated requirements.
