SALEM-KEIZER VOLCANOES “MILITARY HERO OF THE DAY” The Volcanoes take this opportunity to Thank, Honor and Salute Military Hero – Colonel Herb Hirst. Colonel Herb Hirst, United States Army (Ret). Enlisted in 1956, and graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1960. Served with the 27th Infantry Division, 4th Infantry Division, 1st Cavalry Division (Air Mobile), during a 35-year military career. Vietnam, 1966-1967, as a Platoon Commander with the 2nd Battalion 20th Artillery Aerial Rocket unit. Past Commander, Portland Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars. Currently Vice-President, Reserve Affairs, Columbia River Chapter of the Association of the United States Army. Retired as Business Administrator, Oregon State Police. Holds the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and 16 Air Medals. We also take this opportunity to thank Terra Electric/Paddington’s for their outstanding support of the annual three-day Patriotic Tribute at Volcanoes Stadium. 2014 Patriotic Tribute at Volcanoes Stadium – Friday thru Sunday - July 4, 5 and 6.
