SALIENT POINTS OF 2015 BUDGET Education Investing in quality education for children will transform the country into a nation of highly-skilled workers. This will help the country achieve economic growth. With the K to 12 program, children are provided the best possible education that meets international standards. Children who get early education have better chances of completing primary education; those who finish high school are better prepared to be employed. The government has also completed the curriculum guides and trained Grades 3 and 9 public school teachers, has begun the licensing process for private schools, and has identified possible Senior High school implementers. P364.9 billion in 2015 for the Department of Education (DepEd) will allow the government to address critical backlogs: Hiring 39,066 more teachers Construction of 31,728 more classrooms in 2015 Quality textbooks and laboratory and classroom equipment Internet connectivity for schools, adapting the education program to the needs of global markets DepEd will make sure that all children will enter kindergarten, 98 of every 100 will be enrolled in elementary, and 70 of every 100 will attend high school.
