SALONE UPDATE: The Church in Sierra Leone is Sleeping Amidst the threats of Lebanese terrorists, socio-economic degradation and polarization, the Body of Christ cannot afford to be sleeping dead without even snoring. Some churches have even gone into a trance, not having the slightest feeling of what is going on around them. Others are busy finding money and building personal mansions, conniving with corrupt government officials and validating the status quo, like the false prophets in the days of Jeremiah. I hereby call upon the Church in Sierra Leone to wake up from its slumber and speak out on the many problems that are plaguing our society-poverty, corruption and injustice. In the recent International Human Development Index, Sierra Leone has been rated 177 out of 178 countries. What a shame!! In the abundance of minerals resources and fertile land, yet its people continue to live in abject poverty and neglect. The Church must champion the voice of the voiceless and help restore our economic independence and eradicate poverty.
