SALT was used as salary and regarded as important as gold long - TopicsExpress

SALT was used as salary and regarded as important as gold long ago. And throughout the Middle ages slaves were traded for SALT. But growing up in our house, Country Ham and Fat Back Meat or SALT pork was frequently used. On any given day you could pass by the stove and salt pork would be piled up in a reused pie tin. How could a piece of fat with not meat be seen as a valuable part of our diet? If my sister and I were both passing the stove together and see only one piece left, we would bribe each other with a trinket or some made up treasure just to have the last piece. Because I was the cry baby, she agreed to give me the big piece and she would take the small piece. Such a weird desire to crave a salty piece of fat that we also fried and added to our beans and greens. And I have learned that salt all by itself draws out, stings, preserves, and create thirst. Jesus says to His disciples that they are the salt of the earth...He says the same to us. And also encourages us NOT to lose our saltiness. Because of nothing we are but because of who Jesus is on the inside of us, we have the awesome joy to be salty to all we come in contact with and draw others to Christ and cause them to want more and more. Stay salty my friends. The world needs a little flavor from you. andrea nedrick
