SALT your world - STEP36: Make a way for someone In a Im first world today, we vehemently push through queues to get ahead. We do this in elevators, in shopping malls, on the roads, at concerts, at the licensing department and sometimes some of us, already anaesthetised, will find a way to the front of the operating theatre. We believe our time is far more important than anyone elses, so we have no problem driving passed the poor sods whove been queueing at the off-ramp for the last hour. We find any excuse to justify our selfish behaviour, wipe our consciences clean and make it in time for the game kick-off. The only problem was that we were in actual fact late, but that doesnt count because we were busy, and our previous appointment was late, and... and .... and ... . In addition to laying out some time-keeping boundaries, we can learn patience and let others go ahead of us. - Be aware of those who are elderly or disabled and let them go ahead of you - Moms with children should also be given preference - Those who seem ill can be given right of way - Dont jump queues in the traffic - Stop for vehicles from adjoining roads - Stand back for superiors The key is to adopt a humble (not weak) mindset and be aware of those around you who are in greater need.
