SAM설교문 전문 It is all about Perspective https://youtube/watch?v=qX9FSZJu448 Many people say that you are what you feed your mind. If you feed your mind with good things then you will be a good person and also have good ideas. But if you feed your mind with bad things then you will be a bad person with bad ideas. A computer programming jargon is GIGO which means Garbage in, Garbage out. If you feed your mind with negative thoughts, then you will have a negative attitude towards life. If you feed your mind with positive thoughts, then you will have a positive attitude towards life. If you feed your mind with ideas of discouragement, then you will always be discouraged. If you feed your mind with ideas that English is difficult, then English will be difficult for you. But if you feed your mind with thoughts which says English is easy, then English will be easy for you. Right now you are probably wondering what I am trying to say. Well the answer is simple, PERCEPTION. It is all about perception. It is all about how you look at things; it is all about how you make conclusions. It is all about Perception. I will use two pictures to define perception. The first picture In the first picture you can all see an Elephant right? Good. I don’t think Elephants are native in Korea but in South Africa we have a lot of them. However, that is not important. So back to the picture, the scientist who touched the ears of the elephant thought that it was a fan, the one who touched the Tusks (horns) thought that it was a spear, the one who touched the trunk (nose) thought that it was a Snake, whilst the one who touched the legs thought that it was a tree, and the one who touched its body thought that it was a wall and finally the one who touched its tail, thought that it was a rope. The second picture In this picture two perspectives are depicted. Most of you I assume that you are seeing an old woman who has a veil on her head. That is good because I can see that, but what about a face of a young girl, can you see it? I do because I prepared this presentation (Laughs) What is Perception? Perceptions differ from person to person. Different people perceive different things about the same situation. Isn’t perspective a beautiful thing? It basically tells us that as we live we can all see the same thing but understand it differently. Therefore it necessary to highlight that perception starts in the brain. You see what your brain wants to see. You see what you want to see. Now the question is what do you see? What do you want to see? Do you want to look at your challenges as the end of the road or as the beginning of a new road which still leads to the same destination as the first one? What do you see? Do you see English as something you can never overcome? If that is the case then English will be something that you will never overcome. But if you have a right attitude towards your problems then you will realize that the challenge is giving you an opportunity to do something else which still leads to the same goal like before. America’s famous basket ball player Michael Jordan said the following “My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength.” Whilst the world’s famous scientist Albert Einstein said this “Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.” Although the quotes highlighted above do not speak directly about perspective but they do touch the subject we are discussing. So here is the sad truth, in psychology under this subject of perception, there is a sub topic called perception versus reality. This is the state of identity. When you think you are something else but in reality you are not. You might think you are stupid but you are not, you might think this is the end but it is just the beginning, you might think you won’t make it but in reality you have already made it, you might think you are a loser maybe because you don’t do what other people do but in reality you are a role model, you might think you are a bad husband, wife, boy or girlfriend but in reality you are the best. You might think learning English is difficult but in reality its easy. So once more I ask you, what do you see? Did you like it? I did but the truth is, the first time I saw it, I almost cried. He can do all that because the way he looks at himself is different from the way we look at him. He turned what might seem to be his weakness to be his strength. He used his weaknesses as his stepping stones to victory or glory. I don’t know your weaknesses but I know mines and starting from today, I will try to use my weaknesses as my stepping stones to glory and I would like to invite all of you to do the same and I know you will not regret it. Stop looking at yourself as if you are a failure or a loser, don’t quit on yourself. Keep going because you can do it. If Jesus was to speak to you right now I believe He would say “I Love You and if you have any burdens give them to me and I will carry them for you, you are prince or princess of the city of Gold called Heaven. You are worth it. I want you to start looking at yourself in that way.” In conclusion I want you to know that when you have accomplished all that you wanted, may you speak like the apostle Paul in the book of 2 Timothy 4:7-8 which says “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
