SAN ANTONIO -- After the Spurs lost games 6 and 7 last year in Miami in the NBA Finals, the whole Spurs organization wanted to get back to the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat and get there revenge. The Spurs did that on Sun night on fathers day as the Spurs captured there 5th championship in franchise history by again dominating the two time defending champion Miami Heat 114-87. After falling behind early in the first quarter by a score of 22-6, the Spurs made a big run to dominate the rest of the game. I think the turning point in the game was when Manu Ginobili made an amazing dunk over Chris Bosh in the 2nd quarter to give them a 42-35 lead. The Spurs dominated the 2nd quarter outscoring the Heat 25-11 and they dominated the 3rd quarter as well outscoring the Heat 30-18. The Spurs in this series shot 52.8% from the field an NBA Finals record and in the Spurs wins in these finals they won by an average of 14 points which is also an NBA Finals record. The Spurs bench completely outscored the Heat bench as there were times both Manu Ginobili and Patty Mills outscored the Heat bench by themselves. This is the Spurs 12th win this postseason by 15 or more points is the most ever by a team in the NBA Playoffs. These Spurs just dominated the Heat in these finals. Kawhi Leonard capped off his NBA Finals with 22 points and 10 rebounds as he got the Finals MVP trophy, he averaged 17.8 points per game with 6.4 rebounds a game and he shot 61.2% from the field in this series, this guy in my mind has a bright future. Leonard of course had plenty of help as Tim Duncan scored 14 points with 8 rebounds, after getting off to a slow start, Tony Parker ended strong with 16 points. The Spurs bench again dominated led by Manu Ginobili and Patty Mills. Ginobili scored 19 points to go along with 4 assists and Patty Mills hit 4 huge three pointers in the 3rd quarter as he scored 17 points. Lebron James again played well with 31 points and 10 rebounds, but again he got no help, Bosh only scored 13 and Wade only 11. I don’t want to hear any Lebron comparisons to Michael Jordan. Lebron is now 2-3 in the NBA Finals while Jordan is 6-0 in the NBA Finals. I think the Spurs totally frustrated the Heat on both ends of the court, they didn’t allow the Heat once in these finals to score 100 points or more. I think the Spurs looked really fresh while the Heat didn’t look fresh out there. What I love about Spurs head coach Greg Popovich is he doesn’t have any of his player’s average more than 30 minutes a game. What I really love about the Spurs offense is a lot of stuff, the ball movement, players moving to the right spots, and the pace they do it at. The Spurs have won 5 titles since 1999, they have won in the years 98-99, 02-03, 04-05, 06-07 and now 13-14. Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili have 4 rings while Tim Duncan and Spurs Head coach Greg Popovich have rings. In case you didn’t know, the Spurs big 3 of Duncan, Parker and Ginobili are the winningest trio in NBA postseason history. I think the Spurs big 3 will come back and go for title #6 which will tie 2 Bulls legends in Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan. Congrats to the Spurs on winning the NBA Championship and making sure there is no 3 peat party in South Beach
