SAND AID RAISES OVER $5800! The community spirit of Amador County shined last Sunday, September at Sand Aid, a charity event organized to help victims of the Sand Fire that devastated a huge swath of Amador and El Dorado Counties between July 25th and August 2nd of this year. A tidal wave of fellowship engulfed the Plymouth Hotel as eight bands played on two stages, while hourly raffle drawings and a silent auction raised funds for the victims. Nearly 300 donors attended and a total of $5843 was raised during the event. Fire victims Ralph Cova, owner of On Purpose in Sutter Creek, and long-time Amador residents Bill Cleek and David Roberts of Rancho Cicada Resort graced the gathering with their attendance. The tireless efforts of the Sand Aid Team, Sarah Visser, Nedra Russ, Dianne St Francis of the Plymouth Hotel, Amy Amy Champ and Julio Stanford Guerra. Guerra made the event possible. The team would like to thank the many local merchants who donated goods and services (too numerous to list here but God Bless you!), and the volunteer acts that played their hearts out and wowed the crowd: Mr. Pinstripe; Freeze Out; Warm Charlie; Nedra, Julio, and Tom of nJr; Damon Wyckoff, Darcel Chella Bella Hunter and Denise Hunter, Pat Keene and Tessie Sell, Slade Rivers, and The Brokin’ Jug Band. Those wishing to help, but who were unable to attend on September can donate to the Amy Champ Charity Fund at the Plymouth Wells Fargo, the contact there is Assistant Vice President Donna Brune. Donations will be accepted until September 28th. Sand Aid is the only Sand Fire charity assistance venue available to Amador County victims. For information about donating, or to submit Assistance Grant Applications, please contact Julio Guerra at (209) 296-1928 or [email protected]
