SANDUSKY CITY COMMISSION MEETING 9/9/2013 RESULTS - ITEM #1 - A RESOLUTION PASSED supporting efforts to retain the local Kyklos Bearing International (KBI) Manufacturing facility as a strong and growing business in Erie County. - ITEM #2 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - Allowing the city manager to execute a ‘Purchase & Sale Agreements’ for a parcel of non-productive land (606 W. Jeffereson) currently in the City of Sandusky’s Land Re-utilization Program. - ITEM #3 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - approving current replacement pages to the Sandusky Codified Ordinances. The City of Sandusky completes a codification process each year in order to bring the Code of Ordinances up to date. Additionally, state laws which have been changed or newly adopted are incorporated into this update. - ITEM #4 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - authorizing and directing the city manager to enter into a contract with Erie Blacktop, Inc. of Sandusky, Ohio, for the First Street resurfacing and watermain replacement project. - ITEM #5 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - authorizing and directing the city manager to enter into a contract with Ed Burdue & Company, of Sandusky, Ohio for the demolition, remediation and regrading project relating to the former SANDUSKY CABINETS PROPERTY PROJECT. - ITEM #6 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement for professional design services with K.E. McCartney & Associates, Inc. for the Warren Street improvement project. - ITEM #7 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - authorizing the city manager to expend funds for the purchase and installation of a new variable frequency drive for the #2 high service pump at Big Island Water Works from Rockwell Automation, Inc. of Twinsburg, Ohio, in the amount of $31,300. (Over the past several months, the VFD, which was installed in 2003, on high service pump #2 began to fault on a weekly basis. When these pumps fault and turns back on, it causes water hammer in the supply system which may result in water main breaks.) - ITEM #8 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - authorizing and approving an economic development loan in the amount of $75,000 to Hearth Brickoven, LLC. (NEW DOWNTOWN RESTAURANT) - ITEM #9 - AN ORDINANCE PASSED - authorizing and directing the city manager to expend funds to Port Clinton Landfill, Inc. of Port Clinton, Ohio, in the amount of $24,744.83 for the disposal of asbestos contaminated waste due to the emergency partial demolition of 1610 Campbell Street. (THIS IS THE OLD DAIRY/COOKIE PLANT ON CAMPBELL ST.) This was paid for from the Community Development Block Grant and was not taken from the general fund. -ITEM #10 - RESOLUTION PASSED - RESOLUTION NO. accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Erie County Budget Commission; authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor. -ITEM #11 - THIS IS APPROVAL FOR A LIQUOR LICENSE TRANSFER TO THE OLD CARRY-OUT ACROSS THE STREET FROM MARGARITAVILLE - TREX liquor permit transfer for retail store carryout of C1 (beer only in original sealed container for carry out only) and C2 (wine and mixed beverages in sealed containers for carry out) liquor permits from Rita & Mark McGrail dba California Pizza & Things, 6730 Tod Avenue SW, Lordstown, OH to DHRUV, LLC, 303 Fremont Avenue, Sandusky. It is requested the commission clerk be authorized to notify the Ohio Division of Liquor Control the city has no objection to this request. MOTION PASSED - ITEM #12 - THIS IS FOR A LIQUOR LICENSE FOR A NEW RESTAURANT TO OPEN ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE SUBWAY DOWNTOWN. A request has been made for a new D5J (spirituous liquor for on premises consumption only, beer, wine and mixed beverages for on premises, or off premises in original sealed containers, until 2:30 a.m.- Community Entertainment District) liquor permit for Bruschetta, Ltd. dba Amarone Restaurant & Bar, 160 Wayne Street, Sandusky. It is requested the commission clerk be authorized to notify the Ohio Division of Liquor Control the city has no objection to this request. MOTION PASSED
