SAO is probably one of the most interesting franchises out there, but purely on an analysis basis Its kinda like this: Theres this super popular band from like the 70s and 80s. They were like the best thing ever and everyone wanted to go see them. Thats the first half of season 1 Then in the 90s that band started doing some really weird experimental music that wasnt as popular, but they felt they had the prestige to do it anyway. And then the singer got caught doing blow with a hooker, and the bassist was arrested for assault, and everything just sort of fell apart. Thats Fairy Dance Now its the present day and the band is back together and touring again. Theyre playing a few of their old hits and writing new stuff in their old style, but it just isnt the same anymore. That spark of genius and creativity is gone. Sure theyre still decent to listen to since theyve gotten away from that awful stuff they did in the 90s, but its also kinda sad to see how far theyve fallen. Thats Gun Gale ~Ember
