SAPS: Basic Learning Programme 2014 Posted on October 25, 2013 by Site Editor Discuss Closing Date: 31 October 2013 The South African Police Service invites applications for enlistment in the Basic Learning Programme from physically and mentally fit individuals, dedicated to serving their country by pursuing a career in policing. Requirements physically and mentally healthy Law abiding citizens who have not been found guilty of a criminal offense (particulars of any pending criminal prosecution must be declared) Between ages of 18 and 30 (Reservists 18 – 35) In possession of a Matric / Senior Certificate (Grade 12) Proficient in at least two official languages, of which one must be English and qualify to participate in the recruitment and selection process for entry-level members in the SAPS. Applicants with a degree or Diploma will have an advantage in possession of a valid Code 08 driver’s license Applicants will be subject to a fitness, psychometric and medical evaluation and be interviewed during the recruitment, selection and enlistment process. The SAPS will also verify the criminal record, qualifications, driver’s license, citizenship and residential address of each applicant. Selected Applicants will enter into a two year contract for participation in the Basic Training Learning Programme offered by the SAPS that will be offered over the following periods: Year 1: 12 months of Basic Police Training, including Tactical Policing, at a designated SAPS Training Institution. Year 2 : Six months of Field Training at a designated police station, during which trainees will receive a monthly stipend Probation: a 12 month probation during which trainees will receive on the job training at a designated police station or unit.
