SASOLBURG - The Red-Ants have been unleashed in Sasolburg in the Free State after a court order was obtained by the Metsimaholo Municipality to intervene in the strike by unhappy municipal workers. Red Ants Security chief executive Johan Bosch confirmed they are deployed in the area to prevent more damage to the Metsimaholo Municipal building. This after thousands of rands worth of damage were caused by striking workers last week. Workers have been on strike since last Tuesday. The area around the Metsimaholo municipality is cordoned off. The court order stipulates that striking workers remain a certain distance from the building. The News Team has learned three people have been injured this morning after Red Ant security guards fired shots at striking workers. According to the police the violence will be investigated as these victims have now laid charges. No arrests have been made. Amid simmering tensions in the area, SAPS spokesperson, Const. Peter Kareli says the situation at the moment is calm.
