Shelly Manne (1920-1984) was one of my main jazz drummer influences beginning while I was in high school in the mid-1950s because of his impeccably good taste and creative use of multiple sounds that went beyond the normal jazz drum set at that time including his boo bams made out of large bamboo shells as incorporated into his personal drum set....
