SATURDAY, April 26 Saturday in Easter Week Acts 4:13. They - TopicsExpress

SATURDAY, April 26 Saturday in Easter Week Acts 4:13. They were uneducated and ordinary men. Time and again, scripture upends our expectations. The man who would lead the Israelites to freedom is left as a baby in a basket in the Nile. The King of kings is born in a stable. Fisherman and tax collectors are the first to follow Jesus. It’s not what you’d expect. But I think this short passage undergirds one of the major themes of the Bible: the power and promise of God to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. And this is the part that makes me so excited. I don’t have to be a Rhodes Scholar or a rock star for God to use me. I can be who I am: A woman. A wife. A mother. A daughter. A friend. Someone who tries to be good and do good, but often as not, fails and makes bad decisions. Some-one who makes jokes to diffuse tension, loves to read People magazine, and delights in family game night. If God the Son can use Peter and John, uneducated and ordinary men, to establish the foundation of the church, how might God use me? Am I ready?
