SATURDAY CLASSICS... SMILES WITH FROWNS: If you have ever attended any accounts lesson, you know very well that an account is a record of debit and credit entries to cover transactions involving a particular item or a particular person or concern. An account basically has two sides i.e the debit and credit side. Similar sides can never gain at the same time. When one debit side gains, the accounting equation can only balance if a debit side somewhere looses by crediting. Similarly, when one credit side gains, another account looses by debiting. This simply means that a debit walks hand in hand with a credit and vice versa. The moment there is a debit with a debit or a credit with a credit, there is imbalance. It is the same thing in life. Good luck walks hand in hand with ebisirani (bad luck). They are too inseparable. Definetly, everyone hates EBISIRANI. By default, we all crave for good fate in everything and always look forward to the very best. Ofcourse, fortune comes with peace and fosters comfortable lives. Nonetheless, a time comes when the drum sticks have to change for every drum (engoma erahindura emiriso). Whenever things turn upside down, it is very uncomfortable and unpleasant. We often feel very bad and even forget all the good things that have ever happened to us. We feel as if it is the end of it all but that should not always be the case. Things change and it is a fact of life! No one can ever be lucky right from the start to the end. Just like how the holy book states it, there is a time to laugh but also a time to cry…. For proper balancing in life to happen, happiness has to walk with sadness, laughter with tears, smiles with frowns etc. That is the game of life. Then, sometimes when one person looses, another one gains for instance when you loose a loved one, the coffin maker earns money and feeds his family. When you loose a job another person takes it up and earns a living. When a mosquito bites you, you get malaria but it also gets food. When the government squeezes a big amount of tax from business people, it is able to build roads for the population, the list is endless. Believe me you; “loose and gain” are inseparable. So let us not stop at celebrating success only. Wishing victory to ourselves all the time is so selfish. Let us learn to jubilate whenever we also loose knowing that somebody else is happy somewhere.
