SATURDAY DEVOTION THE NEED FOR HOLINESS I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. ( Psalm 119: 11 NLT) Thats the only way to keep away from a sinful life. People struggle with addictions and habits and yet dont want to pay attention to the solution. As if thats not enough, John makes an interesting statement. He says: Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. ( 1 John 3:9, KJV) Now, the seed of God is the word of God. Remember, Jesus said: 3...A farmer went out to sow his seed...13. Dont you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word... ( Mark 4: 3 and 13 to 14, NIV). There is not any other way to live a Holy life than through living in the precepts of God. The psalmist said: ...9 How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word... ( Psalm 119:9 NLT) Why the emphasis on this purity? Well, Jesus said: Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God... ( Matthew 5:8, NKJV) Its not just in the life to come but also in this life. Do you want to see the hand of God in this life? Live a holy life. How? By obeying or doing the word of God. Yes you can.
