SATURDAY EVENING ICU UPDATE: First and foremost let me express a most sincere THANK YOU to all who have written, texted, emailed, snail mailed, called, visited, etc. communicating your continued love, care, concern, encouragement, and praises, and prayers for Rhonda and our family. We are blessed indeed by the outpouring of love we are receiving. Rhonda has a better day today than yesterday. Her mother Carla Payne Ragland is staying with her through tomorrow. Our daughter, Rachel Wilson and her husband David visited with Rhonda today. Rachel reported to me that her mother is doing really well, all things considered. They have put her on pressure support on the vent which means she is doing the majority of the work, initiating and sustaining her respiration, the ventilator providing minimal support to help her. She should be graduating to a tracheostomy collar in a couple of days. Rachel told me her mother is improving medically to the extent that there has been some discussion about possibly transferring her to another facility that can provide the proper care for a patient with a trach collar while addressing PT / OT needs as well. Rhonda is weak from having been in ICU so long so there is the possibility that she will need a level of physical therapy that I am unable to provide her at home. At any rate, this is a good report and one I am happy to share with you. Rhonda has had several visitors today which has lifted her spirits. Thank you again for your faithful intercession.
