SATURDAY, June 21 Psalm 90:14. Satisfy us by your loving-kindness in the morning; so shall we rejoice and be glad all the days of our lives. My husband and I like to take walks around our neighborhood. We talk about the things that are frustrating us, the things we need to get done as soon as possible, and our hopes for the future. I remember my husband once saying, “What we have now, it’s enough.” He meant we could have a larger apartment or make more money but, in truth, our life in that moment was good, was sufficient. We had enough money to keep body and soul together, time to spend with each other, and opportunity to work on our art—what more could we need? Things have changed a bit since we had children—we still make enough to keep body and soul together and our house is plenty big for the four of us, even though it’s much smaller than the others in our neighborhood. Since time is in shorter supply now, we have to be intentional about our walks and about recognizing that we have enough. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking everything is scarce when God’s abundance is everywhere. In times of real scarcity, love remains in abundance.
