SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2013 NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY AT GREENWOOD FURNACE STATE PARK GREENWOOD FURNACE – Come and celebrate your public lands on National Public Lands Day at Greenwood Furnace State Park for a historic ruins stabilization project from 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Volunteers should report to the Cemetery. A light lunch will be provided afterwards. Please call the park office at 814-667-1800 to register by Friday, September 27. National Public Lands Day is an excellent way to give something back to your public spaces by lending a hand in getting the park ready for winter. Volunteers will be asked to work on small and large landscaping and beautification projects and will be assigned to projects based on their skills, abilities and desires. Participants should bring work gloves, and if possible, tools such as rakes and shovels that may be in short supply. Lunch will be provided. Boy and Girl Scouts can earn community service time by participating in the event.
