SAVE OUR RIVERS FROM THE CLUTCHES OF SAND MAFIA. Unchecked, rampant and illegal sand mining in the bed of river Terekhol has lead to widespread environmental disaster throughout its course, all the way from its mouth at Fort of Terekhol to the Naibaug-Satarda bridge almost 15 KM upstream. keri: The sand from the beach has shifted to the rived bed to fill the void left behind by day and night non stop mining, and the Pine trees planted at near the beach to prevent sea erosion of the coast have fallen down one by one, having lost their grip in the sand. The beach has been destroyed. Naibaug: the river bed has become deeep due to removal of sand, and the soil from the fields situated over both the banks of the river is giving away to the destructive flow of water. Trees like mango and coconut are collapsing in large number and almost FIFTY TO HUNDRED feet of land is lost on both the sides as river is becoming wider day by day. All these negative developments are happening in open air day and night and are visible to everybodys eyes, except for the politicians, the concerned departments and of course, the Police. Let the concerned authorities and GOANS be alerted through these pictures.
