SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANCY CONSULTANCY TITLE: Facilitation Consultant, LAC Regional Programming Workshop TEAM/PROGRAMME: Peru Regional Office LOCATION: Nicaragua Dates: 2-6 December Type of Contract: Consultant CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people. ROLE PURPOSE: Facilitate a strategic planning workshop of regional and country office program staff, to help shape a set of program priorities and an agenda for collaborative work across the region, and create a document of regional program strategy. Reports to Regional Program and Humanitarian Director, LAC KEY AREAS OF WORK: Program Support: Review existing documents related to LAC region programming strategy, to understand how the workshop will fit in with Save the Children’s strategy at global and national levels Discuss plans with coordination group and help develop a draft agenda for the workshop, which will result in all actors (country offices, regional technical advisors and regional office staff) having a greater understanding of each other’s roles and areas for potential collaboration, a renewed vision for the organization, and broad lines of shared action for 2014-15 Work with the participants in advanced to attend the workshop with adequate information and prior consultation with key stakeholders Facilitate strategy workshop in conjunction with the coordination group, helping steer the conversation to achieve the intended results while dealing adequately with side issues that may arise, ensure time-keeping and preparation of participants for any interventions, and drawing together conclusions each day and in the final session Provide an objective external perspective on the workshop to strengthen the approach and strategy arising from the workshop Assist in clarifying roles and responsibilities, surfacing and mediating potential misunderstandings, identifying themes of common interest and potential strategic importance Work with Program and Humanitarian Director and coordination group to help review progress of the workshop and ensure the process will lead to the desired results Act as coordinator of reporting (in conjunction with designated staff) and consolidate notes and findings into a report of up to 10 pages, to be shared within the region and globally General: Comply with and promote Save the Children Theory of Change, policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures. SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANCY Deliverables: include the facilitation of the workshop, a report of no more than 10 pages including a brief description of the process used, and the outcome of the workshop in terms of program strategy QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Essential Previous experience in child-focussed and development programming, including project management, project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Proven experience in facilitating development meetings and workshops of substantial scope and complexity Excellent communication and writing skills. Fluent written and spoken Spanish, ability to read in English. Commitment to the aims and principles of SC.
