SAVED? Jesus told us that there would be signs of the beginning of sorrows in the last days. The 4 major things, which He told us to watch for, are nations rising against nations and kingdoms against kingdoms, earthquakes in various places, famines, and pestilences. Well, Israel is surrounded by folks who wish them erased from the earth. Syria is in revolution. ISIS is running over every city in their path. Russia is in conflict in the Ukraine. Fighting continues in many African nations. In fact, since 2007, the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) reports that peace is getting more and more scares around the globe. Currently, only 11 of the 162 countries monitored are free from conflict. 151 are in conflict, either externally or internally. Earthquakes are reported daily, and have had a 65% increase since 1979. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) stated recently that We have recently experienced a period that has had one of the highest rates of great earthquakes ever recorded.” Recent reports tell us that 1 of 8 people in the world is chronically undernourished. Food prices continue to rise faster than incomes. The Bible tells us that this will get so bad that it will take a day’s wages just to purchase the necessary food for one day. Pestilence is defined as a deadly or virulent epidemic disease. Hmmmmmm. Ebola is certainly a scary situation. Some experts are predicting over 1 million deaths in the next 6 months from this virus. Paul told us that Jesus would deliver us from wrath, and that we are not appointed to wrath. So, Christians will be saved from the wrath to come, which is coming, based on the signs for which we are to look. That being the case, Christians need to look up, as our redemption draws near. If you are not a Christian, the time in which this choice is simple is quickly drawing near. Pastor Jeffrey Chavez, from The Catalyst of Springfield, told us this week that statistics show that only 11% of those folks, who attend or are affiliated with a church or religion, actually know what is required to be saved. Well, let me tell you what it takes. It is a simple thing. Yes, that’s right, it is a SIMPLE thing. It’s simple, just hard, especially if you don’t understand what is required. We are told in Romans, Chapter 10, beginning in verse 8, about the simple task of insuring salvation. 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”[e (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” There you go…….believe in your heart…….confess with your mouth…….that Jesus is the Son of God, raised from the dead. Simple, just hard. Jesus told us that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that no man comes to the Father but by Him. Saints can’t save you. Works can’t save you. Mary can’t save you. Things can’t save you. Only Jesus can save you. There you go. You have been told what to do. Now, you have to act to claim your own salvation. Need help? Text me, call me, come by the church. Or, you can simple do it at home. But…….YOU MUST DO THIS! Just my thoughts! Don D. Stephens
