SAVING CARLOWS LANDSCAPE The Save Our Heartland team in south - TopicsExpress

SAVING CARLOWS LANDSCAPE The Save Our Heartland team in south County Carlow are on an urgent mission to protect the foothills and valleys of Mount Leinster and The Blackstairs from having two 1 km wide corridors rammed through the area by EirGrid as part of a scheme to erect 43m high electricity pylons at 330m centres on the chosen route to carry high voltage power lines. They write: As this area is remote and sparsely populated there are very few people to object and speak up for the natural beauty of this secluded, unspoilt area of Ireland. We live here and cannot stand idly by and watch the beauty of our foothills and valleys destroyed. We have kept the beauty of this area secret for long enough - now we need to tell everyone about it. This secret garden in South County Carlow is the home of a close knit rural farming community and has become a haven for many artists. We would like to preserve the charm and wonder of this area for our children and future generations. South County Carlow should be protected and treated with as much regard as our neighbours in Co. Kilkenny and Co. Wicklow. The Carlow County Development Plan (2015-2021) is out for consultation at the moment. The deadline for submissions is 5pm today. If you feel strongly about these proposals, please email your views to [email protected] - put Review of Carlow County Development Plan in the subject line and provide your name and address details. Further details follow below.
