SAVITRI - Libro 7, Canto VI, vv. 169,179 Thou hast come down into a struggling world To aid a blind and suffering mortal race, To open to Light the eyes that could not see, To bring down bliss into the heart of grief, To make thy life a bridge twixt earth and heaven; If thou wouldst save the toiling universe, The vast universal suffering feel as thine: Thou must bear the sorrow that thou claimst to heal; The day-bringer must walk in darkest night. He who would save the world must share its pain. If he knows not grief, how shall he find grief’s cure? Sei venuta giù in un mondo che lotta per aiutare una cieca e sofferente razza mortale, per aprire alla Luce gli occhi che non possono vedere, per portare giù la beatitudine nel cuore del dolore, per far della tua vita un ponte fra la terra e il cielo; se vuoi salvare luniverso travagliato, senti la vasta sofferenza universale come tua: devi sopportare la pena che pretendi di guarire; colui che porta il giorno deve camminare nella notte più oscura. Chi vuole salvare il mondo deve condividerne il dolore. Se non conosce la sofferenza, come potrà trovare la cura per la sofferenza?
