SAWUN AND KIRRIR (Satire) dt .8.8.14 ---------------------- Ramzan has gone! His brother Shawaal has come. They are twelve brothers. !Remaining are : Muhram , Safar , Rabi-1 ,Rabi -2 ,Jamadi -1 , jamadi -2 ,Rajab, Shoban,Zulqud and Zulhujj.They are of Arab origin.Hail from the land of Hejaz.They all are in continuous journey in countries where Muslims live. We are forbidden to comment on these Arabians and at liberty to hurl every ugly word to infidels. We are obligated to like them. Likewise, the other 10 brothers and 2 sisters, hailing from the land of Greece, also visit to us. Females are: Miss January and Miss Febury.No need of naming brothers. You know well all. I don’t like April, May, June, November, December and Miss January. Even then they visit me. I have asked them not to come to me. From now onward if they come, I shall leave home and go to village, leaving them to live alone in my house. Leave this tale! It is our personal matter. Do you know our indigenous calendar? No! For, probably they are infidel. Any way, they are : Chait , Wesakh ,Jeth ,Aakhaar ,Sawun, Bado ,Asu,Katti ,Nehari ,Poh , Maangh and Phagann . All they come turn by turn, quietly, and go away. None notices their arrival and departure. Of them, Bado used to bring hunger and illness long ago. Now it has improved. I like Sawun and Chait specially, because they bring happiness.Chait brings spring and Sawun brings Showers! They make the land and life colorful. Our life is fully dependent on these alien Arabs and Greeks. For weddings and religious purposes, we follow Arabian calendar. For all other matters, we follow Greek calendar. Once I promised shopkeeper to clear his debt on 1st of Chait after receiving salary. Promised date came but I did not get salary. I went to Accountant and said him, “it is 1st of Chait give me salary”. “But it is 15th 0f Feb, how can salary be disbursed to you?” replied Accountant. I became defaulter and shopkeeper stopped my Khaata. I never again promised with anybody. I was travelling in wagon. The person sitting by my side asked, “What is date today”? “20th of sawaun “, I replied! He again asked and my reply was same.”I don’t ask your name. I want to know date!” he uttered.”Yes it is date today”, I responded. His next question was: “what is your name? “ Kirrir “, I told him.” “Kirrir! what is it ?” he questioned. “It is beautiful tree with pretty flowers and delicious fruit,” I told him the meaning of Kirrar. And you name? “, I countered him!” Muhammad Waheed –u-ddin Ahamad Zia-u-ddin “, he replied. I stared at him astonishingly. “It is Muslim name”, he clarified.” I am also Muslim”, I replied him. He thought that I was joking with him. He quietly stood up and found another seat to sit.
