SAY SOMETHING GOOD ABOUT YOUR MATES is back ! Not had much time lately to think about doing one of these,but today my car is in the garage,and I am painting the garage. My thoughts drift back to the Focus TV Rentals team, and today one individual is featured in particular Lyndsay Wheatcroft (Mcgrath that was ). Just a note for those of you not familiar with this company we where at the time a large member of the Thorn EMI group renting TVs and videos . At that time the rental market was in huge decline,so for the company to be successful we had to have very special people!! Lyndsay is one of those people. She epitomizes the saying A POSITIVE PERSON she has been known to to do many mad things. She once sat in a bath of beans in Accrington shop window for charity,I believe she still has the wrinkles! However this is not her strongest point. If Lyndsay befriends you,you will have the most loyal friend you will ever find, without a doubt. If there is a weakness it would be to blindly be positive about her friends without question . Times were hard at Focus and making the figures every week was very very hard,and as an Area Manager you needed to know despite these hard times your staff was always giving it their best. I never ever ever ever for one moment thought that Lyndsay was not giving it her best shot !! Lyndsay has a lot of special attributes , but for me one stands out clearly, she generates a level of loyalty from other people in line with the loyalty she gives them. Make no mistake if you upset Lyndsay she has the skill to tell you off by using this loyalty, in the words and pitch of her voice, like no other person I know. Somebody with this skill has far more impact, and assertion than anybody with a loud voice, it goes straight to the jugular !!!! What was so good about Lyndsay is she was so easy to motivate and she overflows with enthusiasm very very easy to manage (IF SHE LIKES YOU) . I have fond memories of all the people I worked with, but the Focus people had something special, the managing director had elevated the salespeople to a status way above anybody further up the management chain ABSOLUTELY THE CORRECT THING TO DO !!
