While I swam in the river I was thinking about the bodies lost in the war Attacks and counter attacks At the rate of twenty or thirty a day So many paintings of smiling faces flew down Towards a world where there is no speech No stem for the Sun to bloom We know the stars are in communication With the planets without break You think that you have nothing To do with the conversation I know the name of a place Gaza Also I know Israel and Palestine Only names What is there in a name? Now I know there is something in a name First I heard the name Baghdad when I was in my childhood When I could read Kabooliwala of Rabindranath Tagore My childhood dreams fluttered and Took wings to fly up in the sky I became a falcon Gone to all continents But caught fire from the burning Sun Fell down on nose with burnt up feathers On the banks of Al Uzaym river.
