SB1859 which negatively impacts the arts in oklahoma by making the funding for the Oklahoma Art in Public Places Program permissive (optional) as opposed to its current set up which is guaranteed was voted on today. a sub-committee of the appropriations and budget committee in the state house of representatives passed the bill by a vote of 5-3. we wanted this bill to fail. this means it goes to the full appropriations and budget committee in the house next followed by a vote on the full house floor. these are our last opportunities to save this agency. please contact the members of the appropriations and budget committee and ask them to vote NO on SB1859 and save public art in oklahoma! if you have questions please ask. link to the appropriations and budget committee members in comments. get informed, get involved, save the arts.
