SBI Assistant Jobs: Engineers and MBAs joining: In SBI while the qualification for the post is very basic (12th class (with minimum 60 per cent aggregate marks) or a degree from a recognized university), SBI has however managed to attract candidates with professional qualifications in engineering and business administration. There are a huge number of Engineering and Management graduates who have joined the Bank as an Assistant which is a clerical level job in the bank. A senior public sector banker said that since the promotion process is quite fast in public sector banks, an Assistant can retire as a General Manager or even higher. Faster Promotion: Highly qualified persons are joining SBI as Assistant primarily because of two reasons, one, there are lack of opportunities in the Government Job sector as competition is huge however in Assistant jobs since the number of vacancies remains quite high hence competition is a little bit lesser at least for good students, another reason is faster promotions as an Assistant can quickly become an Officer if he or she is a Career Oriented person. There are faster promotion and career growth coupled with attractive salary and perks, ones an Assistant become an Officer.
