SC defers hearing on Sahara’s plea on releasing Subrata Roy The Supreme Court on Wednesday deferred hearing on Sahara Group’s plea on releasing Subrata Roy for tomorrow. On Tuesday, miffed with its chief Subrata Roy’s week-long custody in Delhi’s Tihar jail, Sahara group moved the Supreme Court, demanding his immediate release. Moving a habeas corpus petition, Sahara’s counsel approached a bench led by Chief Justice P Sathasivam and termed Roy’s custody as illegal and beyond the scope of law. The bench had agreed to hear the plea at 2 pm. Roy has been in jail since March 4 after a two-judge bench had rejected the group’s proposal on refunding investors. The court had called the proposal as “dishonourable”. Sahara came up with a proposal to pay Rs 2,500 crore within three days, and the remaining amount in five installments, the last of which was to come in July 2015.
