SCAM ALERT -- SCAM ALERT Just got a cell phone call that went like this. No caller ID, so Id usually just ignore the call, but since the phone was right there I decided to answer. Electronic female voice: This is an important call from Visa. We regret to inform you your debit card has been locked. To unlock it, press 1 to be transferred to our security department. Something seemed odd--it would be the credit union, NOT Visa, that would call in this case, and it would be a real person that would call to verify unusual activity. (Thats been the case with me a couple times, both legitimate, but I am glad they check.) I didnt fall for it and hung it, but if I had thought about it, I could have had some fun with them and talked to Security, giving them an old debit card number that I cancelled several years ago. Just to be safe, I checked my account online. Nothing unfamiliar on there. In fact, I used it to get gas not one hour ago, and everything worked fine. Anyway, be alert out there for similiar calls.
