***SCAM ALERT(Please Share This Message)*** There are multiple reports, throughout the Fox Valley (Oshkosh and Menasha), of an individual(s) operating a scam where the individual is pretending to be an employee of a power company/local utility. The individual is attempting to gain access to homes to burglarize the residence. The vehicle in question has also been seen in the Appleton area. How Can You Help? 1. If someone approaches your house claiming to work for a power company or local utility, ask them for identification. A real employee will have identification with them. If you doubt the identification, call the company to confirm the identification. 2. Do not let a power company/utility worker into your residence until you have confirmed their identity. 3. If you see a vehicle like the one accompanying this post, attempt to get the license plate number. Law enforcement is attempting to identify the vehicle and the registered owner. 4. If you have friends/family, who are elderly or home-bound, advise them not to let an unidentified person into their home. 5. Call law enforcement. If you feel that you are in danger, call 911. If the person approaches your residence, is unable to identify themselves and quickly leaves, call the APD non-emergency number (920)832-5500, as soon as possible.
