SCAMMERS HIT AGAIN Message Via Email I feel as if I should - TopicsExpress

SCAMMERS HIT AGAIN Message Via Email I feel as if I should share with you guys that someone just tried to scam me by appealing to the fact that I had recently lost my cat. The man called and claimed to be from an organization called Pet Rescue. He told me that if I went to their website and provided information about our cat, a team of people would come and search the area. I was already a little suspicious so I asked for the website and went to it to check it out. The site was petrescue (I do not recommend going to that website). As soon as the page loaded my virus scan popped up with a warning that malware was detected from an on-site scan. I check the time the malware was detected and it was exactly when I went to that page. Immediately I hung up the phone, closed out the webpage and turned off my computer. The man has since then tried to call me from two different numbers. All three numbers came from different cities in complete different states: California, New York, Illinois. I have not answered and do not plan to contact this man again. I just wanted to warn other people who are providing their phone number in order to be contacted about their pet. I sickens me that people would prey on others when they are in a vulnerable state. I was happy anyone went out of their way to call and assist with my cat search; too bad they were just trying to scam me. Please help spread the word. I have already posted a tip on the FBI Website Fraud webpage. If you know of anything else I should do, please let me know.
