SCATTERED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TODAY Thunderstorm - TopicsExpress

SCATTERED STRONG THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TODAY Thunderstorm chances ramp up to 80% today. Some of the storms could be severe from midday through late afternoon: damaging winds, localized flooding and even hail are possible. This morning starts off dry but storms could reach areas like Hopkinsville and Clarksville by 9 a.m. Storms will approach Nashville by 11 a.m. or so from the northwest. Storms may not develop across southeastern Middle Tennessee until early afternoon. High temperatures should approach the 90° mark in between storms this afternoon. A cool front will move through overnight, so an isolated shower chance remains through Tuesday morning. Winds will switch from southwest to northwest behind the front. Much cooler temperatures are expected tomorrow as afternoon highs will struggle to reach 80 degrees. Lows Tuesday night should drop to the mid-and-upper 50s. The dry and cool weather is associated with a ridge of high pressure passing to our north. Wednesday also looks pleasant with cooler-than-average conditions. Storm chances try to return from the west on Thursday but may get stalled in West Tennessee on account of our dry air. Friday brings a good chance of rain and thunderstorms as low pressure and our next cool front crosses the region. Todays weather is brought to you by Lee Company
